Silicon Valley on the Immigration Ban

So, 20th January, Donald J. Trump sworn is as the President of the United States . And since then no one can stop talking about him.

Right after a week of his inauguration, he signed the executive orders banning citizens from 7 countries having Muslim Majority.

So although this is just a temporary ban on just 7 countries it still puts some kind of fear on other immigrants as well. The future for these people in America may be seen in some sort of doubt. We have even seen rumors of Trump banning immigrants with an H1-B Visa which basically is for those Non Americans working in the US.

Today Silicon Valley, the home to thousands of great companies including the likes of Apple, Google and many big Tech Giants have always been helped by immigrated people in the United States. The biggest example currently can be the CEO’s at Google and Microsoft, Sundar Pichai and Satya Nadella are born Indians, Sergey Brin an Russian refugee who founded Google along side Larry Page, Jony Ive the one who designed your iPads, iPhones and the Macs is a British working in the US and of course Elon Musk who was born in South Africa and was raised up in Canada and now is the founder of Tesla, SpaceX and PayPal and the biological father of the great Steve Jobs was an Immigrant as well.

These are just some of the big names, there are many more immigrants who have helped the American Tech Industry grow. Immigrants have contributed to a large part in Silicon Valley, they have claimed upto 30-40% startups in the country and more than 50% of top American startups have immigrants as top executives.

The importance of these immigrants can never be ignored, they have contributed to an enormous amount to the Valley and even other industries as well. We live in a free world and even immigrants have the full rights to enjoy the privilege as other, we must respect their freedom and move on together.

After Trump’s executives order the Tech world has all sorts of sayings against the ban showing their support to the immigrants. They are trying their best to fight the ban and help the immigrants to get their rights.

Here’s what certain leaders from the Tech World had to say –

Tim Cook

As I’ve said many times, diversity makes our team stronger. And if there’s one thing I know about the people at Apple, it’s the depth of our empathy and support for one another. It’s as important now as it’s ever been, and it will not weaken one bit. I know I can count on all of you to make sure everyone at Apple feels welcome, respected and valued.

Apple is open. Open to everyone, no matter where they come from, which language they speak, who they love or how they worship. Our employees represent the finest talent in the world, and our team hails from every corner of the globe.

In the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, “We may have all come on different ships, but we are in the same boat now.”

Sundar Pichai

We’re upset about the impact of this order and any proposals that could impose restrictions on Googlers and their families, or that could create barriers to bringing great talent to the US. It’s painful to see the personal cost of this executive order on our colleagues. Our first order of business is to help Googlers who are affected. If you’re abroad and need help please reach out to our global security team.”

Elon Musk

The blanket entry ban on citizens from certain primarily Muslim countries is not the best way to address the country’s challenges

Satya Nadella

“As a company, Microsoft believes in a strong and balanced high-skilled immigration system. We also believe in broader immigration opportunities, like the protections for talented and law-abiding young people under the Deferred Access for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) Program, often called “Dreamers”. We believe that immigration laws can and should protect the public without sacrificing people’s freedom of expression or religion. And we believe in the importance of protecting legitimate and law-abiding refugees whose very lives may be at stake in immigration proceedings.”

Reed Hastings

“Trump’s actions are hurting Netflix employees around the world, and are so un-American it pains us all. Worse, these actions will make America less safe (through hatred and loss of allies) rather than more safe. A very sad week, and more to come with the lives of over 600,000 Dreamers here in a America under imminent threat. It is time to link arms together to protect American values of freedom and opportunity.”

Mark Zuckerberg

“Like many of you, I’m concerned about the impact of the recent executive orders signed by President Trump.

We need to keep this country safe, but we should do that by focusing on people who actually pose a threat. Expanding the focus of law enforcement beyond people who are real threats would make all Americans less safe by diverting resources, while millions of undocumented folks who don’t pose a threat will live in fear of deportation.

We should also keep our doors open to refugees and those who need help. That’s who we are. Had we turned away refugees a few decades ago, Priscilla’s family wouldn’t be here today.”

The American Tech Industry is totally against the ban, this would affect them directly on their employment. They are doing everything they can to repel the ban and save their employees and even those immigrants.

So Let’s unite ourselves and fight against the idea of racism, lets not be people from different parts of the worlds rather lets be a part of the united world, because no matter where one is from, he/she has the same power to help the world make a better place.

The Great Support People are showing against the Ban and with the immigrants

Although the Ban isn’t made against any particular community, it is a political move by Trump (Not Judging if its right or wrong), it is still creating that inferiority amongst the immigrants. We must understand that no matter who, everyone has a major part to play in peoples life and every one is equal.

PEACE

PS : I’m not taking any political stand, For or Against the execution and Trump.
